Special Knead Cafe on the lookout for a new kind place to call home

Dear Customers and Valued Special Knead Patrons It is with a heavy heart we must inform you we have had to move at short notice from our popular premises at Fluffs & Tufts in Bryanston. As a community-based non-profit organisation dedicated to changing the world for special needs adults, we are now looking for a new home and hope to be up and running again soon. For four months, we have provided a kind place for anyone needing a break to come and relax and have a quality cup of coffee in a place where they could feel they were part of the family. We were recently, however, made aware of the fact we were operating on council land that should never have been offered to us in the first place - however good the charitable intent may have been. The talent and dedication of our 3 special needs staff, who took charge of the running of the café in such a professional way, together all our superb volunteers, has shone through as they found an avenue to follow their dreams and passions. It has been a wonderful time for the children and parents and we certainly see this as just the beginning of the next chapter in our journey. Fortunately, we have amazing sponsors and donors and our quality barista and baking equipment is being kept in storage until we have relocated. If anyone does have an idea for a space in the Bryanston and Magaliessig area that we can call a new home, please do contact us urgently. There is a desperate need for more to be done to provide job opportunities for special needs children and with your ongoing support and help, we can truly make a difference together. We will be in touch soon again. Warm Regards - Kim Rundle - 082 415 1283

About Us

Because all of us are not the same

We employ special needs young adults as an NPC coffee shop selling delicious coffee and professionally made pastries made by special Chef Chris. Empowering the different – BE WHO YOU ARE.
Not every disability can be seen – be patient, be kind…in our world everything takes longer. So breath …take time to just be.

Founded to give opportunities to those that haven’t yet had their chance to shine.

kitchen and spatial organization

Sammi is a semi verbal dyslexic Autistic. She’s in charge of the kitchen and spatial organization ( making sure our cafe is shining and beautiful) at SKC. She hides in the kitchen when things get hectic in the cafe. Her social anxiety is what holds her back . So if you do see her pop her head out, please say hi. Let’s encourage her to step outside that which holds her back . Reading is her nemesis so please don’t ask her to serve you yet.

Pastry Chef

Meet Michaela she’s a pastry chef by trade and a beautiful soul. We are so blessed to have her on our team . She will be baking special surprises on Fridays or special occasions. She ensures all runs smoothly and brings a beautiful gentle energy to our happy place . We love her SO 💕💖

He is an aspiring actor and has written his own songs .

You will be blessed to know him.

Meet Kim. Mother of 3, teacher by trade and fearsome Autism advocate. She founded and ran Journey School of arts for special needs children and has fought with government for special needs rights in this country. A fierce defender of our special specials and their incredible talents.
